we have had to shut down our nuc orders for this year. We will be accepting form submissions
for a waitlist contact for next year
order form
2025 Price: $320 per nuc
Please note: these are 5 frame robust nucs that are inspected and verified to be "queen right" prior to pickup by our customers.
Why do we sell 5 frame nucs?
Our 5 frame nucs contain 2 frames of capped brood, 2 frames of honey for food, and 1 frame of drawn comb ready for laying. We believe this creates a stronger nuc and sets up our customers better for success with thier bees.
Queen right means that the queen is present, accepted by the nuc, and eggs plus larvae are present.
Our nucs are inspected 14 days after the nuc is made and the queen introduced. This ensures the nuc is viable and healthy before the nucs are picked up by the customer. It is important that the nucs be installed into a standard hive steup as soon as possible after pickup.
Queens
We use Saskatraz bred queens in our nucs. We prefer the Saskatraz queens over imported queens as they are bred for our Saskatchewan climate.
Deposit
The 100$ deposit per nuc must be received to confirm your orderand will be subtracted from the final amount.
The final amount must be paid before you pick up your nuc.
Refunds: your deposit is refunded to you if we are unable to supply your nuc. We are unable to refund deposits if nucs are cancelled by the customer unless we are able to sell the cancelled nuc to another buyer.

Nucleus Hives (Nucs), when available, will be ready for pickup normally starting May and subject to weather and the start of the spring season. These are five frame nucs with brood, (two frames of brood and bees), eggs.larvae, pollen, honey, and a bred queen.
Nucs will come in a disposable nuc box similar to the photo on the left. All nucs for sale come from hives inspected by the provincial Apiculturist.
Nucs are sold on a first come first serve basis and will require a deposit of 100$ per nuc, get your deposits in early as we are sold out very quickly.
Please Note:
1. Deposit will secure your order as there will be a limited number of nucs for sale. (Deposits are only refundable under certain circumstances)
2. Out of province customers must provide apiary registration number for provincial import requirements
3. We do not accept e transfers to cellular telephone numbers. We only accept
e-transfers to our grassland honey email address.
You may pick up your nucs in person or, a drop off service can be provided if you are within a 10km distance of Saskatoon city limits. (a 10$ drop off fee was the rate in the past. The drop off fee will be subject to current fuel prices)
If you are picking up your own nucs: be advised they are live bees. Appropriate transportation is your responsibility. Keeping the bees cool and well ventilated is necessary. We normally meet you at a central location in the cool part of the day just south of Saskatoon for pickups as the bee yard is not accessible for customers.
Transporting nucs in the trunk of a car is NOT recommended. The back of an open truck box or an open trailer with walls to break the wind are the best forms of transport.

The e-transfer is addressed to [email protected] Applicable taxes for entire cost of nuc will be calculated and applied to the final payment. Full payment must be received prior to pickup
